Why use us?

There are many resources to help you find things.  There are social media websites, there are local publications, there are advertising pages, and there are search engines.  All of them are useful and all of them have their particular strengths and weaknesses.

• Unlike social networking sites, we do not carry opinions and reviews.

• Unlike advertising sites, we do not take money from the various things we list, so businesses that do not pay are still listed.

• Unlike search engines, we are local and we fact check our information and work hard to keep it up to date.  (By the way, if you find a mistake or if there is a business that we have missed, please send us email at info@northfork.info and we will work fast and hard to correct our error.)

• In some ways we are another local publication.  Our specialty, instead of news, is being a geographically oriented directory.  Because one of our founders is a chef, we started with food-oriented businesses.  As time passes we expect to add other topics.

At present we are a labor of love with no business model.  When a business model becomes obvious to us, we will consider it.
